Personality Assessments (Personality Testing)
An assessment of personality has several components:
- Reviewing the purpose(s) of the evaluation
- Conducting interviews with the person being evaluated; frequently, interviews are also conducted with other people (such as a spouse or a parent) to gather additional information
- Giving personality tests such as: the NEO-PI-R, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the Enneagram, the 16PF, the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory – third edition (MCMI-III) or the Millon Adolescent Clinical Inventory (MACI). Sometimes, tests known as projective tests, are also given such as the Rorschach or the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT).
- A report is then written which describes the person’s personality, highlighting strengths and weaknesses.
