Psychological Evaluations
Psychological Evaluations, also known as psychological testing, is the broad title which could cover an array of testing including testing to determine a specific diagnosis, IQ or intelligence testing, achievement testing, an assessment of personality, an assessment of strengths and weaknesses, memory assessments, or a combination of some/all of these. Typically, an evaluation consists of:
A review of previous information such as prior evaluations, prior treatment records, school records of job performance reviews or any other prior information which could be of assistance.
Interviews sufficient enough to gather the needed information. Sometimes other people are interviewed as well such as parents, friends, co-workers, supervisors. At times a mental status exam is conducted in order to check for specific symptoms which point to a given diagnosis.
Psychological testing is conducted appropriate to the referral question(s). There are many different kinds of tests which could be administered here.
A report is written which contains all of the above information, together with a Formulation or Conclusion section, and a final section which includes a list of specific recommendations.
Our evaluations conform to the standards of the American Psychological Association regarding psychological testing.
