Stress is the amount of ’stuff’ coming at you that needs to be managed. Even positive events are stressful such as the birth of a child, graduation, or a job promotion. Strain is the negative effect that stress can take on us. Strain is the proverbial ‘weight on the shoulders’ which comes from prolonged exposure to stress.
