Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Heritage Professional Associates offers Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) services at their Hinsdale, IL site. DBT is an empirically validated treatment for persons who struggle with emotional dysregulation which is characterized by emotional instability, impulsivity, and conflictual interpersonal relationships. Often persons struggling with emotional dysregulations engage in harmful behaviors (e.g., self-injury, suicidal gestures, problems related to food intake and retention) and some meet the criteria for borderline personality disorder. The DBT service is comprised of four components:

  • Weekly skills training group (90 minutes) covering the four DBT skills areas:
    • Core Mindfulness
    • Distress Tolerance
    • Emotional Regulation
    • Interpersonal Effectiveness
  • Weekly individual therapy session (45-50 minutes)
  • Phone consultation (initiated by the client, as needed, for skills coaching)
  • Weekly therapists consultation group (attended by DBT therapists ONLY For quality assurance)

Acceptance into the program requires commitment to develop a life worth living, completion of self-monitoring tools and the daily practice of adaptive skill. In return, DBT staff are committed to providing skills coaching in situations in which clients need it the most. Call (630) 325-5300 to schedule a first time appointment.
