Parenting is a tough job as it is. But when your teen or young adult is struggling with anxiety, it can be difficult to know the best way to support them, especially if they stop doing activities they once loved, avoid responsibilities at home, start missing classes, and are not completing school work. How can parents manage all their normal responsibilities and still be a loving, effective parent in this very challenging situation?
In this workshop, you can begin to clarify your role in how to provide support while encouraging them to cope with situations that make them anxious. There will be discussion on what it is like to create healthy expectations for your teen or young adult while nurturing a meaningful relationship with them. You will learn effective ways of coping in various situations. A goal will be to educate parents on common struggles associated with anxiety, but will also focus helping parents to see themselves as an agent for change in their teen’s life.
