Dr. Grote continues to enjoy racquet sports including platform tennis and pickleball, travel and spending time with his family, which includes his wife and two adult sons. After his long and happy career at Rush, he is excited to join the staff at Heritage Professional Associates!
About Dr. Grote
Dr. Grote is a board certified (ABPP-CN) Clinical Neuropsychologist who has over 35 years of experience in evaluating and treating adults and older adolescents who need help understanding and improving their neuropsychological well-being. He has much experience in working with individuals who have or might have dementing conditions including Alzheimer’s or other neurodegenerative disorders, epilepsy and other seizure disorders, vascular diseases including stroke, auto-immune disorders (e.g., multiple sclerosis, lupus, etc.), normal pressure hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, brain tumors, cancers, Attention Deficit Disorder, depression and other medical/psychiatric disorders.
After finishing his training in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Dr. Grote went to Rush University Medical Center where he eventually was named the Director of Clinical Neuropsychology and appointed as a Full Professor in two departments at Rush Medical College (Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences; Neurological Sciences). He was appointed to several other leadership positions at Rush including Acting and Associate Chairperson and the Director of Clinical Training in Clinical Neuropsychology. He was elected by other neuropsychologists to the Board of Directors of four major organizations in Clinical Neuropsychology and was elected President of the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN). He was also active in publishing and has often been an invited speaker at national and international conferences.
