About Lina Dunbar

Lina Dunbar is a Doctoral Therapy Extern who specializes in the treatment of adolescents, adults, and older adults. Her clinical interests include trauma, depression, anxiety and related mood disorders, cultural assimilation, relational concerns, and working with justice involved individuals. She has previous experience conducting court ordered, psychological diagnostic evaluations for adolescents with criminal justice involvement to provide diagnostic impressions and inform treatment recommendations.  Lina uses a client centered framework alongside relational psychodynamic theory to create an empowering, supportive, and collaborative space where clients feel safe to explore the emotions, behaviors, and thought patterns that impact their sense of self, mental health and overall wellbeing.

Lina’s therapeutic approach is aimed at empowering and collaborating with clients to promote insight, independence and growth. She fosters an empathic and supportive environment where clients can feel safe to explore and process their emotions, past experiences and future goals. In her free time, Lina enjoys exploring cities around Illinois with her husband, going on long walks with her rescue dog, and reading a fast-paced thriller novel.
